What it is

The Vista Gem & Mineral Society (VGMS) Beginner Lapidary & Silversmithing Class is a recurring six-week class program in Vista, California. The Beginner & Advanced Classes page says beginner classes “introduce students to cutting and polishing stones, along with foundational silversmithing skills to create finished jewelry.” Classes are held at the society’s shop at 1930 Watson Way, Suite B, Vista, CA 92081. VGMS was founded in 1959, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and is affiliated with the California and national federations of mineralogical societies.

Who it’s for

Beginners in north San Diego County who want a structured, multi-week start in cabochon cutting and basic silversmithing, and who are willing to join the society first. Students who finish can go on to the advanced classes and members’ open shop.

Why it’s listed

It’s a lapidary class with a first-party page that gives the class location, weekly days and times, the full 2027 session calendar, a printed fee, a class-size limit and a clear registration process. It runs in repeating six-week sessions, so it is an ongoing program, not a one-off. It is Lapidary Plaza’s first Vista workshop listing. San Diego Mineral & Gem Society is listed separately as a club.
