What it is

Lapidary 101 is a one-night introductory lapidary class at the Duluth MakerSpace in Duluth, Minnesota. The class page describes “a one-night introduction to the lapidary arts and what the Duluth Makerspace has to offer local rock and mineral enthusiasts,” with a presentation of the saws, drill, lapidary polishers and cabbing machines and “hands-on learning on the saw and cabbing arbor.” It is the first step toward becoming Lapidary Studio Certified. The instructor is Irie Ralph.

Who it’s for

Adults (18+) in the Duluth and Lake Superior area who are curious about cutting and polishing stone and want to see the makerspace’s lapidary studio before committing to a membership or certification.

Why it’s listed

It’s a first-party class with a published date, time, price, age limit and enrollment count on the makerspace’s own Classes page. The space itself (a cooperative workshop with a lapidary studio) is described on its Our Workshop page. This listing covers the lapidary class only, not the whole makerspace.
